Participants will explore our shared approach to formative assessment at ISH, engage with resources on the Formative Assessment @ ISH Portal, and plan and teach a lesson using one or more of the five key strategies of formative assessment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Format<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u23f3 Approx. 1.5-2 hours\/week over roughly 5 weeks (asynchronous) &#8211; via ISH Academy<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83e\udd1d Final face-to-face session<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Who should attend?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Compulsory<\/strong>: All new teachers at ISH with annual contracts, including those who joined mid-year last year. (They will be informed directly.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Optional:<\/strong> Other teachers who are interested may also join, depending on available places.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Two course windows<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In response to your input last year and recognising that some new colleagues feel overwhelmed, we will run the course in two different windows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Autumn window: <\/strong>Flexible start (from 29th September to 6th October), with a final face-to-face session on 19 November.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Spring window:<\/strong> Estimated start in February 2026 (exact dates TBC).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udc65 <strong>Optional: <\/strong>Participants may also book one (or more) 15-minute 1:1 appointment(s) with the course facilitator \u2013 Silvia Semana \u2013 at any point during the course to ask questions, explore ideas, or get personalised support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> This course is compulsory for all new teachers at ISH. This course is free of charge for all participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Main Goals<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use the Formative Assessment @ ISH Portal confidently as a professional learning resource<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Apply ISH\u2019s shared understanding and language of formative assessment in own teaching practice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Types of learning activities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Throughout the course, participants will engage in a range of purposeful, practical activities, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Guided explorations of the Formative Assessment @ ISH Portal<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scavenger hunts and self-assessment check-ins<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reflective discussions with peers via forums<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strategy-focused planning using structured guiding questions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Peer review of formative assessment plans<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Classroom implementation and reflection on impact<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The tasks are designed to be flexible, relevant to teachers across subject areas, and directly linked to classroom practice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This course supports all new teachers at ISH in embedding formative assessment strategies into their everyday classroom practice.
