TOK Together: Tapping into Teacher Talent

The International School of The Hague (ISH) and ISH Academy were proud to host a highly productive and engaging “ToK Together” workshop this past Wednesday, March 5th, bringing together dozens of Theory of Knowledge (TOK) teachers from International Schools across the Netherlands.

From noon to 5:00 PM, educators gathered at ISH to delve into the intricacies of the TOK curriculum, focusing on key areas such as the Exhibition and the Essay. The workshop, a follow-up to the successful 2018 DISS TOK Conference and subsequent online sessions, aimed to reconnect educators in person and foster a collaborative learning environment.

The “ToK Together” workshop specifically addressed effective strategies for guiding students through the Internal Assessment (IA), including:

  • Selecting meaningful objects for the Exhibition.
  • Crafting compelling commentaries.
  • Establishing robust connections between the Exhibition, chosen prompts, and real-world contexts.

Participants engaged in dynamic discussions, shared practical tips, and explored innovative approaches to supporting students in achieving their best in TOK.

The workshop, offered free of charge, underscored ISH’s commitment to supporting the professional development of educators and fostering a strong community of TOK teachers in the Netherlands.

ISH Academy extends its gratitude to all the educators who participated in the workshop and contributed to its success, to ISH TOK Coordinator Barbara van Vugt-Bouwman for organizing and planning the event, and to DP/CP Coordinator Alma Trumic-Damjanovic, PhD for her support of this and other IB-related events here at ISH.
