Orff Schulwerk with Professor Andrea

Our aim is to bring music educators from around the Netherlands for a formal workshop centred on the pedagogy of Orff Schulwerk. This will mostly be focussed on secondary teaching, but every resource and technique is transferable from primary to tertiary education. It is a series of fun, engaging, exploratory lessons, that you can be taken back to your classrooms! We want to engage and foster play-based learning to form strong learning moments in our lessons.

What will it give you?
You will walk away having experienced a wealth of knowledge from Dr Andrea Sangiorgio and each other. We are once again honoured to have Andrea working with us.

The focus is on play; and play within the Orff approach. ISH will supply the instruments and if you have your own, please bring it as we will look at improvising too!

Professor Andrea also brings many resources that he freely shares and expands upon. This is truly a must-attend two days and you will get to see how each of us approach choosing repertoire for teaching.

Workshop Information

The first day is Friday May 17th at ISH and you will be working with Professor Andrea from 9.30am to 4.35pm, with breaks and lunch. We will then have a second day on Saturday May 18th, following on from Friday’s sessions. It is recommended that you attend both days, to build on the skills covered. We also want to build our music educator community!

If you are interested we are asking for a registration fee of only 15euros, as this will also lock in who attends as we supply food, coffee/tea and other refreshments. We will keep you up-to-date as more information comes through.

Welcome from Samuel and the ISH Music Team.

“Thanks for inspiring us all to become better teachers! Just as what Prof. Andrea meant to inspire us to do with our students, he created a space to experience the learning process and the making of sound in a few hours through playfulness.”

2023 Participant

“This was such a joyful, experiential, creative, community-filled experience with such practical long and short term applications. A pleasure through and through.”

2023 participant

“The organization was fluent. Musically it was well structured and allowed for creative input. The theoretical content was immediately put in practice and both gave place to a clear and inspiring conclusion of the day.”
